Town of Salem, NH

As the Salem Area Women’s Club–GFWC (SAWC) continues celebrating its Centennial Year, members remain hard at work improving lives throughout Salem, Pelham, Hampstead, and beyond. From supporting education and public safety to caring for animals and beautifying our community, SAWC volunteers continue to demonstrate that a century of service is just the beginning.

Celebrating The Learning Cooperative’s Preschoolers

When The Learning Cooperative (TLC) held its preschool graduation ceremony in June, every graduate proudly wore a cap and received a special gift of a copy of My Teacher Helps Me Learn and Grow, donated by SAWC. The book was written by local Hampstead author Julie Nichole, making the gift even more meaningful for the young graduates.

Sharing the Love with Local Police and Firefighters

SAWC members continue to express their appreciation for our area’s first responders by helping make their stations feel a bit more like home. In June, members of the Club’s Citizenship Committee delivered sets of Corelle dinnerware to Salem Fire Department Stations 2 and 3, grill accessories to the Pelham Fire Department, and an air fryer to the Pelham Police Department.

Helping Out at SARL’s Kitty City

On June 19, SAWC members volunteered at the Salem Animal Rescue League’s (SARL) “Kitty City.” In addition to donating more than $500 worth of much-needed supplies, members spent the day cleaning, organizing, and refreshing both the kitten facility and the donation storage area.

Making Salem Bloom

Thanks to the dedication of SAWC’s volunteer gardeners, the Club’s beautiful Rail Trail Garden on Hampshire Street continues to flourish. Community members are encouraged to stop by, enjoy the colorful display, and literally “stop and smell the flowers.”
