Fall is here and there are big things are happening at Hedgehog Park and in the Salem Recreation Division! Learn more about Hedgehog and Recreation programs below!

Hedgehog Park Update with Jim Koczat – September 2024

Jim Koczat from the Recreation Advisory Committee and the Friends of Salem Recreation describes the upcoming changes to Hedgehog Park! These include: a new basketball court, an ADA compliant walking path around Hedgehog Pond, and an expanded parking lot! The Friends of Salem Recreation did a great job getting several grants and fundraising for the Hedgehog projects. Jim also explains the status of the Skate Park and where the funds sit today. Recreation News Update with Juliann Isabelle – Fall 2024

Salem’s Recreation Coordinator, Juliann Isabelle also worked with SCTV to provide an update on all things Recreation in Salem for Fall 2024. Notable events include:

  • Fall Fest on Saturday, October 5 from 10 am – 2pm at Hedgehog Park
  • Salem’s 3rd Annual ‘Trunk or Treat’ on Thursday, October 24 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm at the Ingram Senior Center

Both of these events are free and will be a ton of fun for the whole family!

Additionally, Juliann discusses some of the adult, youth, and adaptive programs that will be available this fall, including:

  • Adult Dance Programs (Aerobics and Tap)
  • Adult Men’s Volleyball, Adult Men’s Basketball, and Adult Tennis Programs
  • Youth Flag Football and Youth Tennis
  • Adaptive Soccer / Movement and Adaptive Bowling
  • Volunteer Programs with the Recreation Division

Finally, Juliann discusses the fall hours for Hedgehog Park and updates from the 275th Anniversary Commission, including the logo contest and the ‘Symbols of Salem’ program for accepting historical documents, photo, and other items which will help the Town promote it’s history during 2025.
