The Town of Salem is partnering with Merrimack County Savings Bank to host a free seminar for residents interested in learning more about Accessory Dwelling Units, commonly known as ADUs.
The seminar will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Salem Town Hall, 33 Geremonty Drive.
ADUs can provide flexible housing options for a variety of needs, whether residents are looking to create a living space for family members, provide a safe and comfortable option for aging relatives, or explore the possibility of rental income.
During the seminar, local experts will walk attendees through the ADU process, including financing, titles, permits, and local rules specific to the Town of Salem. Representatives from Merrimack County Savings Bank will also provide information on the construction loan process and how financing options may apply to individual borrowers.
Topics will include:
• The basics of obtaining a construction loan
• Loan options and how they apply to individual borrowers
• Common issues that may arise and how to resolve them
• What qualifies as an Accessory Dwelling Unit
• ADU affordability
• Benefits of adding an ADU
• How the Construction Lending Team helps support an efficient and successful home build
The seminar will be held in a casual, interactive setting and is open to anyone interested in learning more about building an ADU in Salem.
Residents interested in attending are encouraged to register in advance.
