Spring is right around the corner and Recreation Coordinator, Juliann Isabelle-Lanzillo provides us with a great description of all the classes and events that are being offered this Spring.
Returning favorites are Youth Programs, Dodgeball, Track and Flag Football. Now is the time to sign up for the popular Summer Camps; Adventure Camp and Rock N Fun Camp. Keep an eye on the calendar, they fill up quickly. The long-standing adult sports are back, Men’s B-ball and volleyball, Aerobics Dance and Tap.
An exciting new exercise class being offered late Feb into March is Zumba. This will be taught by the new Community Services Director, Jillian Smith. This initial introduction is a short duration, only 4 weeks long. What an easy way to see if you like a class. Pickleball and Tennis information will be available soon. A fun community event is the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Hedgehog Park on March 28th, rain date is April 4th. Right after that at 11:45am is the low sensory Scavenger Hunt in partnership with the Salem Police and ABA Centers. The Adaptive Programs also include Adaptive Track and Buddy Ball a volunteer run pick-up softball game.
The Fishing Derby is on May 2nd this year and we thank our long-time sponsor The Greater Salem Rotary Club. Registration starts at 8:30am but you can save some time by pre-registering at salemnh.myrec.com
For our community members that want to garden in a prepared plot of land at Hawkins Farm, sign up at salemnh.myrec.com it is free and available to Salem residents. Finally, the Town Forest is holding their annual clean-up day on Sat May 30th starting at 9am. Come prepared with gloves, tools and comfortable clothing. This forest is a hidden gem, and a little maintenance goes a long way.
