This summer, members of the Salem Area Women’s Club–GFWC (SAWC) have continued making a positive impact throughout the region. Across Salem, Pelham, Hampstead, Windham, and Derry, SAWC members support nearly 90 organizations year-round through charitable donations, volunteer service, and community outreach initiatives.

Supporting the Mary Fisk School Playground Project

SAWC was proud to contribute $2,500 toward realizing the dream of a new playground for students at the Mary A. Fisk Elementary School.

Three SAWC Members Receive 2026 Hidden Jewels Awards

On August 19, at LaBelle Winery in Derry, three SAWC members—Ashley Scalia Ferm, Beth Roth, and Susan Hopkins—were honored as 2026 Hidden Jewels. The So. NH Chamber’s Hidden Jewels Awards recognize exceptional women whose leadership, service, mentorship, and dedication often take place behind the scenes, yet whose impact is felt every day throughout Southern New Hampshire. These inspiring women strengthen our businesses, enrich our communities, and exemplify the true spirit of volunteerism and service.

SAWC “Gardening Goddesses” Beautify the Grounds at Silverthorne Adult Day Center

The staff and participants at Silverthorne Adult Day Center were delighted when the SAWC “Gardening Goddesses” arrived on a warm summer day to refresh and beautify the center’s gardens. Volunteers weeded the entire garden, planted colorful perennials and sunflowers, installed several new bird feeders, and cleaned and repaired the brick walkway. Love truly grows in Salem!

SAWC Brings the Fun at the Field of Dreams Summer Concert Series

SAWC is proud to sponsor this year’s Field of Dreams Summer Concert Series, contributing $1,000 to support this popular community program. On Friday, July 31, members gathered for an evening of friendship, dancing, and great music while enjoying the sounds of the B-Street Bombers.

Founded in 1926, the Salem Area Women’s Club–GFWC is proudly celebrating 100 years of service to the community. Now more than 130 members strong, SAWC is a vibrant service and social organization dedicated to improving lives through volunteerism, philanthropy, and civic engagement.

Over the past year alone, SAWC members contributed more than $50,000 to nearly 90 organizations and causes at the local, state, national, and international levels.

Celebrating 100 years of service, the Salem Area Women’s Club–GFWC continues to prove that when women come together in friendship and service, they truly become a Power of Good.
