SAWC Held Kick-Off Meeting on September 8th
As the Salem Area Women’s Club–GFWC (SAWC) welcomes Mary Finocchario as its 52nd President, its vibrant membership has geared up for another year of friendship, volunteerism, and service throughout Salem and surrounding communities.
Newly elected President Mary Finocchario will lead SAWC into the 2026–2027 Club year with her theme “All We Need Is Love,” reflecting that to truly serve others and make a difference in our community, you need love in your heart. You need love to care. Love to volunteer. Love to lend a helping hand. Love to listen. And love to make a difference in someone else’s life.
“One of my biggest goals for this year is to get more members involved.” said Finocchario. “Volunteering doesn’t have to mean taking on a huge commitment. It can be helping with a project, making a phone call, sharing an idea, just lending a hand and showing up. What would make you want to be involved? Maybe work alongside a friend, or choose projects that you are interested in, or simply be asked personally. “

SAWC Donates $500 to Salem Boys & Girls Club
In July, the SAWC was delighted to donate $500 to support the important work of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem. The $500 gift will provide 10 local families with Club memberships, opening the door to a safe, supportive place where children can learn, grow, build friendships, and thrive all year long!
Hundreds of Remarkable Women, Three Hidden Jewels, One Extraordinary Sisterhood
On August 19, the Southern NH Chamber celebrated an inspiring group of women whose leadership, service, and dedication shine throughout our communities. SAWC was especially proud to have three of its own honored as 2026 Hidden Jewels: Ashley Scalia Ferm (and Livi) – Crystal; Susan Hopkins – Emerald; and Beth Roth – Mother of Pearl. More than 20 SAWC members joined in the celebration, proudly applauding their Club sisters who continue to live our legacy of making a difference. Congratulations to our SAWC members and all the other worthy recipients of the 2026 Hidden Jewel awards!
Since 1926, the Salem Area Women’s Club GFWC (SAWC) has provided fellowship and opportunity for local women. Now standing 125 members strong and growing, we are a service and social club whose members work together to enrich our community. Last year, SAWC gave more than $50,000 to nearly 90 organizations and causes at the Local, State, National, and international levels.
