Glorious foliage, autumn breezes, and Halloween – there’s no place like NH in the fall! And the Salem Area Women’s Club-GFWC (SAWC) has welcomed the autumn season with their ongoing donations and service projects in the towns of Salem, Pelham, Derry, and Hampstead.
Spreading “Pumpkin Spice” at Salem’s Rail Trail Garden
SAWC’s hardworking gardeners showed up at the Salem Rail Trail to plant mums and bulbs, spruce up the garden, and decorate the fence area and bike with pumpkins and flowers for the fall season.


Salem’s 9th Soul Stroll event
On Sunday, Oct. 18th, the Salem Historical Society hosted their 9th Annual Salem Soul Stroll at the Salem Burying Ground, one of the community’s most historic landmarks, and shared stories of Salem residents from centuries past. SAWC members, some in costumes, were on hand to give tours and to provide drinks and snacks to hungry time travelers.

SAWC Sponsored Booth at Pelham’s Old Home Days
On Saturday, Sept. 19th, the town of Pelham, NH held their annual Old Home Days celebration, sponsored by the First Congregational Church of Pelham. SAWC was an event sponsor and contributed to the day’s festivities by handing out snacks and giveaways.

SAWC Walking Team Had a Howlin’ Good Time in SARL’s Halloween 5K Fundraiser
A group of SAWC members joined the Salem Animal Rescue League’s (SARL) first Howl’ween walk/run 5K fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 31st. The family-friendly event featured a morning of running, walking, people and pets in costumes, and community support to raise money and awareness for Salem area’s homeless animals.
Since 1926, the Salem Area Women’s Club-GFWC (SAWC) has provided fellowship and opportunity for local women. With 129 members strong and still growing, we are a service and social club whose members work together to enrich our community. Last year, SAWC gave more than $50,000 to nearly 60 organizations and causes at the Local, State, National and International levels.
