The Police Department’s National Night Out (NNO) was held on August 5, 2025 at the Salem High School. The event is intended to build relationships between residents and law enforcement, promote crime and drug prevention awareness, and strengthen communities through positive interactions. Each year’s event takes on a festival feel, with food, music, activities and scheduled events including motorcycle, K-9 and taser demonstrations.
The video below presents a recap of this year’s event. The content starts with an interview with Salem Police Chief Joel Dolan, Rockingham County Lt. Rick Pappalardo and Rockingham County Sheriff Chuck Massahos. The three were positive and upbeat and set the tone for the entire evening.
While the police station site is under construction, NNO was temporarily relocated to the Salem High School. The new location provided ease of parking and accessibility. Hundreds of people from Salem were happy to mill about the grounds and partake in the games, food and fun. Everyone enjoyed the demonstrations of the tasers, canines and motorcycles. Taser demonstrations and dog bites were a big hit!
