The Salem Lions Club is excited to announce the return of a cherished hometown tradition—the 71st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting! This festive event will take place on Tuesday, December 2, at Veterans Park on Salem Common (308 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079).

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at the gazebo, where Salem Lions Club President Michelle Ackroyd will kick off the evening with a warm welcome to the community.

Attendees can look forward to live music by Jimmy Kozcat, as well as special performances from the North Salem United Methodist Church Choir and the St. Joseph School Choir, who will lead the crowd in classic Christmas carols that embody the joy of the season.

Adding to the excitement, State Senator Daryl Abbas will be the featured speaker this year. He will share fond memories of growing up in Salem and present the Lions Club with a New Hampshire Senate Resolution honoring the organization’s 71 years of dedicated service to the community.

No Tree Lighting celebration would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus himself! Families can enjoy taking photos with Santa, as well as hot cocoa and cookies provided by the Lions Club—an enjoyable way to warm up while taking part in this beloved town tradition.

“Seeing our community come together for this cherished event reminds me of just how special Salem truly is,” said Lorie Ball, the 2025 Tree Lighting Committee Chair. “I’m honored to work alongside the Lions and many volunteers to bring this event to our community—a true reflection of Salem’s spirit of friendship, generosity, and hometown pride.”

The Salem Lions Club invites both residents and visitors to join in celebrating the spirit of the season and the enduring sense of community that makes Salem shine.
