Happy Birthday Salem Fire Department!

On May 13, 1905, the Town of Salem established the Salem Fire Department (SFD). With a population of 2,041 people, SFD was there to assist the community. At the time, the biggest draw was the newly established Canobie Lake Park (1902) that brought crowds of people from all over to enjoy their facilities.

SFD was dedicated to helping all residents and visitors then, and continues that practice today. With a current population of over 30,000, the SFD Mission Statement of “We’re here to help” still holds true. Happy Birthday to the Salem Fire and thank you to the people of Salem for their support over the last 119 years.
