The Salem Conservation Commission had a busy and exciting August connecting with the community at both National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5th, and at the 275th Salembration on Saturday, August 9th. Commission members staffed up a booth at each event, sharing information about local conservation efforts and talking with residents about ways to get involved to preserve Salem’s beautiful natural spaces.
At each event, Commission Members were on hand to answer questions, highlight upcoming projects, and discuss volunteer opportunities ranging from things such as trail maintenance, maintaining landscape beds, cutting back invasive species, and identifying strategies and opportunities for protecting local wildlife and wetlands. The team enjoyed meeting so many community members, hearing new ideas, and celebrating Salem’s shared commitment to preserving our local conservation and natural spaces.
By attending these events, the Conservation Commission was able to strengthen connections with residents while showcasing the importance of caring for Salem’s environment. The Commission is grateful to everyone who stopped by their booth and looks forward to continuing the conversation about conservation in the months ahead!
Looking to connect with us further? The Conservation Commission meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6pm the Salem Town Hall, downstairs in the Knightly Meeting Room. The Commission can also be reached at conservation@salemnh.gov.
