Local Military Service Members Get Taste of Home

In February the SAWC shipped goodies and personal care items to military troops serving overseas and to those lodged at Liberty House, accompanied by personal greeting cards written by SAWC members. We also were proud to donate $500.00 to the March 28th fundraiser for Homeland Heroes Foundation, a Salem, NH based organization serving New England veterans and active-duty service members.

Honoring the Legacy of Weston Moss

Weston Moss was a brave and kind-hearted 12-year-old from Salem who recently lost his battle with a rare pediatric bone cancer. During his courageous fight, Weston expressed one final wish: to leave a legacy of hope and support for other children facing cancer. In honor of that wish, his family established Weston’s Big Wish, a foundation dedicated to assisting families navigating the challenges of cancer treatment and investing in research that advances better treatments and cures for pediatric cancer.

At its recent 100th Anniversary Gala, the Salem Area Women’s Club was honored to donate $1,000 to this meaningful cause in celebration of its century of giving. This contribution was made in the names of the guests attending the commemorative event, recognizing both a remarkable young man and the strength and love of his devoted parents and brothers.

SAWC “Comfort Bags” Aid Sexual Assault Victims

SAWC is proud to regularly donate “comfort bags” to local hospitals to distribute to women and girls who’ve suffered from sexual assault. The bags contain comfortable clothing, personal care items, a journal and other items so these individuals can leave the hospital with dignity and knowing someone cares about them.

SAWC Donates to End 68 Hours of Hunger in Derry

In February, the Salem Area Women’s Club (SAWC) donated $600 to End 68 Hours of Hunger of Derry to help feed local children. In addition, SAWC members contributed $294 worth of snacks to supplement the weekend food bags distributed to students in need. Food storage and packing space is generously provided by Deja Vu Furniture, whose support helps make this important work possible.

Together, these efforts strengthen the impact of a remarkable volunteer network dedicated to ensuring children have access to nutritious meals when school is not in session. Their mission is simple yet powerful: no child should go hungry over the weekend when school-provided meals are unavailable.

SAWC is proud to support this impactful organization and the meaningful difference it makes in our community.

Snack Baskets for Poll Workers

On New Hampshire Voting Day, March 10th, more than 100 volunteer poll workers across six polling locations in Salem, Hampstead, and Pelham enjoyed a well-deserved snack break thanks to the generosity of Salem Area Women’s Club members.

A snack drive held at SAWC’s February meeting resulted in over $200 worth of donated treats, which were assembled into baskets and delivered on Voting Day to show our appreciation for their long hours of civic service.

Since 1926, the Salem Area Women’s Club GFWC (SAWC) has provided fellowship and philanthropic opportunities for local women. Now standing 119 members strong and growing, we are a service and social club whose members work together to enrich our community.  Last year, The Salem Area Women’s Club gave more than $50,000 to nearly 60 organizations and causes at the local, state, national, and international levels. More information about our organization is available by calling (603) 818-9172, visiting the club’s Facebook page or website at www.salemareawomensclub.org, or email to salemareawomensclub@gmail.com.
