The Town of Salem was pleased to join Parkland Medical Center today for the groundbreaking of its new $16 million freestanding emergency room at 53 South Broadway, across from Tuscan Village.
Expected to open in summer 2027, the new Salem emergency room will provide hospital level emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The facility is expected to bring emergency services within a 15-minute drive for approximately 30,000 additional residents in Salem and surrounding communities.
The new facility will feature 12 private patient rooms, including a fully equipped trauma bay, as well as CT scanning, diagnostic X rays, on site laboratory testing, and dedicated walk in and ambulance entrances. It will be staffed around the clock by emergency physicians, specially trained emergency nurses, and support teams.
This investment will provide another important health care resource for Salem residents while also supporting public safety operations by offering an additional local option for emergency patient care.
Town Councilors Cathy Stacey and Joe Sweeney, along with Town Manager Joe Devine, joined Parkland Medical Center CEO Whitney Fenyak, representatives from HCA Healthcare, community leaders, elected officials, and members of the project team to celebrate the start of construction.

The Town of Salem welcomes this significant investment in our community and looks forward to seeing the project take shape in the months ahead. Congratulations to Parkland Medical Center and everyone involved in bringing this important health care resource to Salem.
