Town of Salem, NH

The Town of Salem’s Municipal Services Department is ready for the 2025–2026 winter season with a comprehensive operational plan aimed at keeping roads safe and navigable during snow and ice events. The Public Works Division is crucial in responding to winter weather conditions by providing snow plowing, salting, sanding, and maintaining roadways to ensure the smooth movement of residents, businesses, and emergency services.

Winter Storm Response:

During snowfall or icy conditions, the Town follows an established operational sequence to manage the storm effectively. Roadways are prioritized to maximize safety and accessibility:

  • Primary roads are serviced first to maintain major travel routes and emergency access.
  • Secondary roads are addressed once major roadways are stabilized.
  • Cul-de-sacs, dead-end streets, and back roads are treated after primary and secondary routes have been secured.

This tiered approach allows staff to provide timely and efficient service during all phases of a storm.

Commitment to Public Safety

The Municipal Services Department is dedicated to ensuring safe roads and reliable transportation during the winter season. Our staff works extended hours before, during, and after snowstorms, and we appreciate the public’s cooperation with parking regulations, travel advisories, and snow emergency notifications.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring Town communications for updates, alerts, and notices related to winter operations.
