The opening of Hedgehog Park for the 2026 season has been delayed until Saturday, June 20, 2026, to allow remaining construction, safety, and operational items to be completed.

After reviewing the current status of the park and site conditions, staff determined that a delayed opening would allow contractors to finish outstanding work and ensure the park is ready to welcome the public safely.

Several areas of the park are still being used for construction staging related to ongoing project work, including portions of the parking area. Remaining materials and equipment on site create safety concerns, particularly for children, and also impact access to certain park amenities.

In addition, there are several life-safety items that must be completed before the park opens to the public, including required signage for the park grills. Opening the park with limited available parking would also create avoidable challenges for both visitors and staff.

Contractors remain confident that the remaining work will be completed in time for the park to open on Saturday, June 20. This timing also aligns with the start of the park’s full seasonal operating schedule, including weekday and weekend operations.

The Town appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as this work is completed. Delaying the opening will help ensure Hedgehog Park is presented to the community in the safest and best possible condition for the start of the season.
