The Salem Golden Eagles wrapped up another successful golf season with their 22nd annual tournament in September.

Organized through the Ingram Senior Center, the par 3 league welcomed more than 150 registrations across its Tuesday and Thursday divisions, with some golfers participating in both. Players primarily reside in Salem and surrounding communities in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Each division was scheduled to play 20 rounds between May 5 and September 17. Due to weather cancellations, however, the season was shortened to 18 rounds for most players.

The closing tournament brought 72 golfers to the course for shotgun starts at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Each start featured nine teams of four players competing in a scramble. Teams were required to use at least one tee shot from each player toward their final score.

Following the tournament, league coordinator, Phil Mothon presented season statistics for both divisions. Men and women were recognized for first, second and third place finishes in several categories, including best round, lowest average gross score, most birdies and most pars. The league also celebrated a hole in one recorded during the season.

The tournament awards ceremony followed the season recognition. Team 8 captured first place with a score of 2 under par. Teams 18 and 19 tied at 1 under par. Under the league’s tie breaking procedure, scores were compared beginning with the most difficult hole and continuing to the next most difficult hole until the tie was settled. Team 19 earned second place, and Team 18 finished third.
