Town of Salem, NH

The Salem Fire Department is providing notice that annual monitoring fees for radio boxes are due by April 30, 2024.  The annual assessment applies to commercial or other places of assembly that have radio boxes.  Monitoring fees are set at $250 and must be paid to stay in compliance with Chapter 260 of the Salem Municipal Code (Fire Prevention Code).

This year, we accepting renewals through our online permit system, OpenGov, accessible at salemnh.portal.opengov.com.  This system will enable convenient credit card payments.  Going forward, the system will automatically prompt for renewals.  It is a user-friendly interface in use by many other communities in the area, and which the Town is using for all permits and inspections in the Inspectional Services Department.

The system will require an address or Parcel ID and box number for each location with a radio box.  Information on finding records and numbers was mailed to each property owner and/or manager.

Failure to pay will result in your property being in violation of Chapter 260 of the Salem Municipal Code. The penalty for each violation is outlined in 260-18 which states in part “Pursuant to RSA 31:39 and RSA 155-A, violations of this article shall be subject to the civil penalty set forth in RSA 676:17”.

For more information, please reach out to the Salem Fire Department, Division of Fire Prevention at 603-890-2209.
