Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home will welcome the community back for its Second Annual Cars & Cans Car Show and Food Drive on Saturday, September 26, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 214 Main Street in Salem.
The event began as a way to bring car enthusiasts together while supporting neighbors in need. Thanks to the generosity of participants, spectators, and local supporters, last year’s event collected hundreds of pounds of food, along with monetary donations, for area food pantries. Organizers hope to make an even greater impact this year.
The car show is open to vehicles of all makes, models, and years, including antiques, muscle cars, modern classics, trucks, and specialty vehicles. Residents are invited to display their vehicles or stop by to enjoy a morning of great cars and community spirit.
Participants are encouraged to donate three canned food items per show vehicle. Spectators are asked to bring one canned food item or make a cash donation. All food and monetary donations will benefit local food pantries serving families throughout the greater Salem area.
Donuts, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches will also be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting local food pantries.
“Our goal is to bring people together for a fun morning while supporting organizations that provide such an important service to our community,” said the staff at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home. “The response to our first event was incredible, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make it such a success. We’re looking forward to making this year’s event even better.”
Spectator parking will be available at Woodbury Middle School. Admission is free with a food or cash donation.
Join Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home for a morning of cars, community, and giving back. Every donation will help ensure local families have access to food when they need it most.
