The Ingram Senior Center carried out two trips in September, first to Fenway Park and then to a show at Castleton in Windham. While the Red Sox may be in a slump, our Seniors still enjoyed their chance for a trip downtown and a guided tour of Fenway Park, including experiencing the famous Green Monster seats. Participants agreed – the view can’t be beat! Surprisingly, the tour included a view of the rooftop garden where some vegetables that are served in the park are grown. In addition, guests saw a Red Sox player doing a photo shoot in the stands; they watched the grounds crew working on the infield, and even serenaded the tour guide with their rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”.
The second trip was to experience the “Happy 2 Gather” show at the Castleton in Windham. The show includes a talented husband and wife duo who perform the Ultimate 60’s tribute show. Singers Jozay and Patti performed songs from some of the most beloved artists of that decade: The Doors, Janis Joplin, Simon and Garfunkel, The Mamas and Papas, and The Turtles, plus many more. Everyone was either up dancing or swinging in their seats.
Future senior trips are open to the public. The next events are drive-yourself trips back to the Castleton to see a performance of the Sicilian Tenors Downton Abbey Special Live Concert on November 14th and Kenny & Dolly – a Smoky Mountain Christmas on December 3rd. Three more Christmas programs follow throughout December.
