In an effort to enhance employee appreciation, the Town of Salem has launched an Employee of the Month Recognition Program. An internal staff ‘Employee Recognition Committee’ has worked diligently to develop that acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the Town of Salem employees.

In November 2024, Chief Mechanic Adam Hough was recognized as the Employee of the Month.  Over the past month, Adam has taken on additional responsibilities and shown incredible ingenuity. Recently, he earned his license to perform state vehicle inspections, which directly saves the town money. He also demonstrated remarkable problem-solving skills by transferring an engine from a damaged vehicle to one with a blown engine, extending the life of our fleet. In another example of his creativity, he repurposed old street signs to patch rust damage, making the most of our available resources.

Despite being displaced during construction at the DPW building, Adam has maintained a positive attitude, consistently boosting team morale and ensuring our operations run smoothly. His proactive approach and willingness to support his colleagues reflect the values we strive for as a team.

Congratulations to Adam on this well-deserved recognition!
